While it is common for schools to host farewell ceremonies to honour retiring teachers for their dedication and service, SJKT Kulim—a Tamil school in Kedah—went a step further. In a touching and unexpected gesture, the school organised a farewell ceremony for their long-serving security guard. This heartfelt tribute, meant to recognise his unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of the students, has captured the attention and admiration of many. It is a powerful reminder that every role in a school community matters and deserves appreciation.

Kunasegaran served as the security guard at SJKT Kulim for an impressive 16 years. He began his service at the school in 2009 and remained a dedicated presence until his retirement. His final day at the school was on 14th May 2025, marking the end of a long and faithful journey in ensuring the safety and well-being of the school community.

To honour Kunasegaran and give him a memorable send-off, the school management gathered the students in the school hall. Teachers took the opportunity to share heartfelt words of appreciation, reflecting on his dedicated service to the school. They fondly recalled cherished memories and moments that highlighted his unwavering commitment and the positive impact he had on the school community.

As part of the farewell celebration, the school organised a heartfelt cake-cutting ceremony to honour Kunasegaran’s years of service. The atmosphere was filled with emotion as students gathered around to show their appreciation. One by one, they came forward to shake his hand and offer warm hugs, expressing their gratitude and affection. It was a touching moment as the entire school community came together to bid farewell, creating memories that Kunasegaran—and the students—will cherish for years to come.

The farewell ceremony for Kunasegaran was more than just a send-off—it was a profound expression of gratitude and respect. By celebrating the contributions of someone who worked quietly behind the scenes to protect and support the school, SJKT Kulim set a powerful example of inclusivity and appreciation. The heartfelt gesture reminded everyone that true dedication knows no rank or title, and that every individual who serves with sincerity deserves to be honoured. Kunasegaran’s legacy will live on not only in the memories of the students and staff but also as a testament to the school’s values of respect, gratitude, and unity.
