Before he became a household name in Tamil cinema, Kavin stole hearts as Vettaiyan, the loveable rogue in Saravanan Meenatchi (2012-2013). While he had previously appeared in Kana Kaanum Kalangal (2011-2012), it was Vettaiyan who made him a fan favorite.

“When I began to work, my dreams were really small. I just wanted to earn fifteen thousand a month and look after my family. I wanted to be in media, either in front of the camera or behind it, so I tried my hand at everything. That’s how I got a chance to play a role in Kana Kaanum Kaalangal. Then when the Saravanan Meenatchi offer came my way, I was eager to explore more, and that eagerness has brought me here, to Natpuna Ennanu Theriyuma,” said Kavin in a interview.
Guruprasad in Lift, Breaking Through with Intensity
In 2021, Kavin surprised audience and critics with the film Lift, a psychological thriller that leaned heavily on a single character’s internal journey. This film was shot after Kavin gained popularity in Bigg Boss Season 3 and released in 2021.As Guruprasad, an IT professional trapped in a haunted corporate building, Kavin delivered a performance laced with anxiety, fear and emotional weight. The film featured Kavin as the lead role, along with Amritha Aiyer, Kiran Konda, Gayathiri Reddy and many more.

Kalaiarasan in Star, Playing a Mirror to Himself
Released in 2024, Star saw Kavin as Kalaiarasan, a young man dreaming of becoming an actor. The film’s narrative was about ambition, rejection, and deep inner passion, almost mirrored Kavin’s real-life story.

Star was one of the best films of Kavin, though the film had a mix critics, Kavin’s dedication was applauded. He took on everything, the physical transformation, the emotional vulnerability, the layers of insecurity, and the soul of an actor. One of the most popular line from the film that resonates to every one, “The Universe Always Falls In Love with A Stubborn Heart”.

Bloody Beggar, and Beyond, The Courage to Experiment
Bloody Beggar was released in 2024. Kavin embraced the absurd and the dark. He transformed completely, in terms of look, language, and body language. This film also had mixed critics, but one thing that was applauded and praised by the audience is Kavin’s performance.

Its a proof that Kavin isn’t just chasing success, he’s chasing craft. He doesn’t repeat characters, he reinvents, rethinks and rededicates himself with every new script.
“When I hear a script, I only wonder if I can pull off the role. Once I’m confident about it, I don’t really worry about what kind of role it is. For me, content is always the first priority. I want to do something different with every film. It’s only in these early stages of my career that I can experiment. By trying out different roles, I’m learning about my strengths and weaknesses, which helps boost my confidence.” Kavin shared in a interview, that he sees every opportunity to experiment is a blessing. And how he wants to explore many kinds of roles, not just to entertain the audience but to learn more about himself as an actor.

What’s Next? On the Rise, Still Grounded
In 2025, Kavin shows no signs of slowing down. With ‘Kiss’, a romantic comedy along with Preethi Anju Asrani, and ‘Mask’, a dark thriller film with Andrea Jeremiah and another romantic drama with Nayanthara, he’s clearly balancing variety of stories.
