The Sakthi School of Yoga, led by the visionary Master S.K. Durai, celebrated a major milestone with its 11th International Yoga Day event, held on 21st June 2025 at MAEPS, Serdang. This year’s celebration was particularly momentous, drawing a record-breaking 5,368 participants and earning a prestigious entry in the Malaysia Book of Records for the largest yoga session ever conducted in the nation.

With a total of 6,098 registered attendees, the event attracted yoga enthusiasts from all over Malaysia, as well as international participants from Singapore and India—highlighting the Sakthi School of Yoga’s expanding global reach. The success of the celebration was made possible by the unwavering commitment of 130 committee members, including both teachers and students, who collaborated as a unified team. Their careful planning and coordination ensured that every aspect of the event, from managing the crowd to the smooth flow of stage activities, was carried out flawlessly.

The event began with a lively cultural showcase, highlighted by a grand urumi melam procession and traditional performances of Mayilattam and Karagattam, which energized and captivated the audience. This vibrant opening was followed by an impressive Silambam demonstration—an ancient martial art deeply respected within the Indian community—adding depth and richness to the cultural experience of the celebration.

The yoga session was a vibrant display of talent and unity across generations. It opened with energetic kids’ yoga performances that set an uplifting tone, followed by inspiring demonstrations from senior citizens, whose poise and commitment moved the audience. The practice then transitioned into a series of Surya Namaskaram (Sun Salutations), and concluded with the powerful Sakthi Kriya—a transformative yogic technique guided by Master S.K. Durai, designed to awaken and harness one’s inner energy.

Among the most touching moments of the event was the pregnancy yoga performance, which radiated both strength and emotion. This was followed by a dynamic Ramayana-themed presentation that seamlessly blended storytelling with the fluidity of yoga. These powerful performances were the result of months of dedicated practice, reflecting the unwavering commitment and discipline of both students and teachers.

More than just a record-breaking gathering, the event was defined by its profound spirit of togetherness. People of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds united in a shared celebration of yoga—embracing it as a universal language of health, harmony, and inner peace.

“This event has provided more than just a stage to display skill and commitment,” shared Master S.K. Durai. “It has created a meaningful space for individuals to reconnect with themselves and with one another through the universal journey of yoga.”

The celebration stood as a powerful reminder that yoga is far more than a physical discipline—it is a unifying force that bridges communities, generations, and cultures.
