Raaj Ganesh initially aspired to become a director. However, his journey into acting began when a local film director approached him to act in and produce a pilot episode for a TV series. It was during this experience that he discovered a genuine passion for acting.
“I realized I had a lot to learn, a lot to improve, and I needed to earn enough to sustain myself in this industry,” he shared. “That’s when I started several small businesses—facing many struggles in the beginning, but always staying focused on my ultimate goal: to produce and create meaningful stories.”
Superstar Rajinikanth has been Raaj Ganesh’s greatest inspiration — not only in cinema but also in life. He admires Rajinikanth not just for his talent as an actor, but for the values, humility, and positive energy he embodies as a person.
When asked how he came up with the idea to open a café, Raaj shared, “In terms of entrepreneurship, my early inspiration was Tony Fernandes. Later on, I had the rare opportunity to sit next to Mr. Zev Siegl, the co-founder of Starbucks, during a forum. That moment truly sparked the idea of starting a café business — and that’s how Raaj Tea Palace was born. For me, acting and entrepreneurship evolved side by side, each one helping me grow in the other.”
A Heart for the Community
Apart from his work as an actor and entrepreneur, Raaj Ganesh is also a true community hero, dedicating his time and resources to helping those in need. He has supported many students by providing financial assistance to help them pursue their education.
At his café, Raaj offers free tuition classes for underprivileged students, creating a safe and supportive space for learning. He personally assists them with school fees, book expenses, and even daily canteen allowances. Beyond academics, he guides these students in securing placements at universities and colleges, and also offers them job opportunities whenever possible. He also supports small businesses by creating free marketing videos to help promote their services.

When asked what inspired him to assist underprivileged students, Raaj Ganesh shared, “My inspiration came from my mother. She used to offer free tuition to children who couldn’t afford it, and that left a deep impact on me. I wanted to carry on that spirit in my own way.”
With that intention, Raaj began hiring teachers and using the space in both of his cafés to conduct free classes in English, Tamil, and Science. Over time, the initiative attracted volunteers who were equally passionate about education. Among them is Dr. Shalini, a medical doctor who generously teaches Science at the Brickfields branch, and Sarrveena, an award-winning teacher who conducts English classes for the students.
“Some of these students don’t even know me personally, and I haven’t met many of them. But the joy of seeing them grow, learn, and succeed—that feeling is truly priceless,” Raaj shared.
He added, “I also make it a point to hire Malaysians, pay them fairly, and even take them on overseas trips. Sometimes, what people need isn’t money, but genuine moral support and I do my best to be there for them.”
Raaj’s willingness to carry on his mother’s legacy, along with the extra effort he puts into supporting students and the community, has positively impacted many lives. He has been a guiding light, helping brighten the future of countless families.
Despite his generosity, Raaj often chooses to remain anonymous when offering help. He explained that this allows him to manage expectations, as it can be difficult to turn people away when word spreads. By staying low-profile, he’s able to continue giving without being overwhelmed or placed in uncomfortable situations.
“As an actor, I already receive a certain level of attention and recognition” Raaj shared. “Sometimes, that kind of fame can feel overwhelming, and I prefer to stay out of the spotlight. When it comes to charity, I choose to stay quiet. I don’t need to be seen—I just want to make a small difference wherever I can.”
Winning Hearts Through Performance
Like everyone else, Raaj Ganesh has faced his share of challenges in his acting career. “Coming from a modest background, it’s not easy to find your place in the industry,” he said. “The film world is one of the toughest spaces to survive in, because at the end of the day, your real boss is the audience.
