Malaysia and Sri Lanka have agreed to deepen their bilateral collaboration in key sectors such as trade, tourism, education, and skilled workforce development, Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced.
He shared that these areas of cooperation were discussed during a courtesy visit by Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Vijitha Herath. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) and related events currently being held in the city.
He noted in a Facebook post that the strong ties between Malaysia and Sri Lanka bring mutual benefits and also play a role in promoting regional stability and progress. Dato’ Seri Anwar also conveyed his gratitude for Sri Lanka’s ongoing efforts in helping to create a more inclusive, peaceful, and thriving regional future.

He emphasized that Malaysia remains committed to strengthening its collaboration with Sri Lanka—not only to advance the well-being of both nations’ citizens, but also to contribute to the development of a more united, prosperous, and resilient ASEAN community.
The 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) and its related sessions, held under Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship with the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” include 24 high-level meetings attended by ASEAN Dialogue Partners and Sectoral Dialogue Partners.

The four-day high-level event hosts approximately 1,500 delegates, including Foreign Ministers from ASEAN and Timor-Leste, ASEAN Dialogue Partners, participants of the ASEAN Regional Forum, Sectoral Dialogue Partners, and senior officials from the ASEAN Secretariat.
