A thrilling opportunity awaits participants of the Merdeka 6.8KM Fun Run & Walk, set to take place at Dataran Tanjung Emas in Muar, Johor, on July 27. Highlighting the event is a lucky draw featuring a motorcycle as the grand prize, adding an exciting incentive for attendees.
Organized in celebration of the National Month launch and the 2025 Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign, the event welcomes individuals from all backgrounds. Open to the public and free of charge, it is expected to draw more than 1,000 enthusiastic participants.
Director-General of the Information Department (JaPen), Julina Johan, announced that the first 1,000 people to register for the event will receive exclusive T-shirts. Additionally, the first 1,000 participants to complete the 6.8-kilometre route will be awarded medals and become eligible for the lucky draw.
Julina explained that the programme aligns with the goals of the Malaysia Sihat agenda and is designed to provide a unique experience by integrating elements of patriotism along the running route.
“All participants will receive a Jalur Gemilang flag, and patriotic songs will be played throughout the 6.8-kilometre route,” she told Bernama. “We’ve also arranged performances by the brass band from Sekolah Tinggi Muar and JaPen’s Pentarama group.”
She added that the event is not only intended to promote a healthy lifestyle but also to serve as a platform to foster unity among Malaysians of all backgrounds.
“I hope this programme will help strengthen the spirit of togetherness and unity. Everyone is encouraged to take part in the shared celebration of our national flag and to nurture a sense of patriotism and love for Malaysia,” she said.
The Launch Ceremony for the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 Campaign, which will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, promises a range of engaging activities. Among the highlights is the Kita MADANI Carnival, taking place from July 25 to 27, offering the public direct access to various government services.
Alongside the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang Convoy, a variety of family-friendly and community-focused activities will take place, including colouring competitions and cultural performances.
