The 90th anniversary reunion of SJKT Sangeetha Sabah Ipoh, brought together former students and educators in a heartfelt celebration that also marked the beginning of an ambitious vision to transform the historic school into a model Tamil school in Perak.
Held under the theme ‘Celebrating 90 Years of Memories’, the gathering saw over 50 alumni reconnect and reflect on the school’s rich legacy. Organizing chairperson P. Chithirakala Vasu shared that the initiative to elevate SJKT Sangeetha Sabah’s profile is being championed by its former students and teachers, many of whom have gone on to hold influential positions in society.
“So far, we have reached out to more than 500 former students, and we are committed to seeing SJKT Sangeetha Sabah thrive and excel. Many of the alumni now hold prominent positions and can contribute ideas and support to help enhance the school’s performance,” said Chithirakala.
Founded in 1934 by the late Saravanamuthu as a humble music class for the children of Malayan Railways workers, the school has evolved into a significant educational institution for the Indian community in Perak. From modest beginnings, it now operates from a modern four storey building, the result of a major development project launched in 2005, and completed in 2010, offering facilities that support a more holistic learning experience.
Speaking at the reunion, MIC Vice President Tan Sri M.Ramasamy paid tribute to the school’s legacy and its role in shaping generations of learners.
“This reunion is not merely a return to the past. It is a reaffirmation of identity, a recognition of the bonds that unite us across generations, and a tribute to the teachers and mentors who gave so selflessly. It also reflects something greater: the strength of community and the enduring importance of education as a force for progress and unity.”

The alumni-led effort aims to harness this collective pride to further strengthen the school, not only through improved academic outcomes but by expanding extracurricular programs and fostering leadership, creativity, and community service among students.
With a decade to go until its centenary, SJKT Sangeetha Sabah stands at a promising crossroads, one guided by legacy, driven by community, and inspired by the dream of becoming a benchmark for Tamil schools across the state.
