As of 10am today (21st July), Malaysia is once again facing haze as several areas across the country recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings, according to the Department of Environment (DOE).
Four Locations Report Unhealthy Air Levels
The following locations have recorded API levels exceeding 100, officially falling into the ‘unhealthy’ category:
Seremban, Negeri Sembilan-API 155
Nilai, Negeri Sembilan-API 154
Johan Setia, Selangor– API 151
Balok Baru, Kuantan, Pahang-API 140

According to the DOE’s Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), API readings between 101 and 200 are considered unhealthy, particularly for high-risk groups such as children, senior citizens, pregnant women, and individuals with respiratory conditions like asthma and bronchitis.
The API levels are updated hourly from 68 monitoring stations across Malaysia. Real-time air quality updates can be accessed via the APIMS website or through MyJas EQMS mobile app, available on both App Store and Google Play.
Health First: How to Stay Safe During the Haze
With the haze situation worsening in several areas, it’s crucial to take preventive measures to protect your health:
Limit Outdoor Activities: Especially during peak haze hours.

Wear a Mask: Use N95 or KF94 face masks when going outdoors to filter out fine particles (PM2.5)
Stay Indoors: Keep doors and windows closed. Use air purifiers if available.

Keep Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and help your body flush out all toxins.

Monitor Symptoms: Seek medical attention if you experience cough, or difficulty breathing, eye irritation or chest discomfort.

Follow Updates: Track API levels on the APIMS Site and adhere to official health guidelines available at the Ministry of Health website.
As the haze returns, staying informed and taking the necessary precautions is essential for your health and well-being. Keep an eye on official updates, protect yourself and play your part in spreading awareness. ]
