As 2025 reaches its halfway mark, box office numbers for Indian films have become a major talking point. Standing out among them is Tourist Family, the debut film of director Abhishan Jeevinth, featuring Sasikumar and Simran in lead roles. The film has not only garnered widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences but has also achieved remarkable milestones, emerging as the most profitable film of the year so far. Its success story continues to unfold, marking an impressive start for its first-time director.

The film features a strong ensemble cast, including Mithun Jaishankar, Yogi Babu, M.S. Bhaskar, Ramesh Thilak, Bhagavathy Perumal, Ilango Kumaravel, Sreeja Ravi, and Yoga Lakshmi in significant roles. It aims to offer a thoughtful and heartfelt depiction of the hardships endured by Eelam Tamils, while also highlighting the rich cultural heritage and deep sense of humanity within the community.

Despite its modest budget, the film managed to captivate audiences through its powerful narrative, further enhanced by a soulful soundtrack composed by Sean Roldan.

Tourist Family, produced on a modest budget of just ₹7 crore, has gone on to earn an impressive ₹90 crore at the box office—resulting in a staggering 1200% return on investment. It stands as the most profitable Indian film of the year and a shining example of how low-budget cinema can make a big impact. Centered around the emotional journey of a family escaping from Sri Lanka to Tamil Nadu, the film has struck a powerful chord with audiences, especially those who appreciate heartfelt, emotionally driven storytelling.
