Malaysia’s top women’s doubles shuttlers, Pearly Tan and M.Thinaah, made a commanding start to their China Open 2025 campaign, cruising past compatriots Ong Xin Yi and Carmen Ting in straight games yesterday night.
The world No.3 pair, fresh off their runner-up finish at the Japan Open last week, needed just 24 minutes to seal a 21-8, 21-12 win over the teenage duo. From the first serve to match point, Pearly and Thinaah were in total control, not giving their world No.38 opponents any chance to settle into rhythm.
This victory also marks a significant step forward for Pearly and Thinaah, as they aim to clear the second round hurdle, a stage that has proven tricky for them in the last two editions of the prestigious Super 1000 tournament held in Changzhou.

Their next challenge will come from Japan’s Rui Hirokami and Sayaka Hobara, as the Malaysians look to maintain their momentum and push deeper into the tournament.
With strong early performances, Pearly and Thinaah are off to a promising start at the China Open, and fans will be hoping this momentum carries through the later stages of the tournament.
