Renowned director AR Murugadoss is set to make a grand return to the big screen with his highly anticipated film Madharasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role. With its theatrical release scheduled for 5th September, the film has already generated significant buzz among fans and industry insiders alike. All eyes are now on Madharasi as it gears up to be one of the most talked-about releases of the season.
In the lead-up to the film’s release, AR Murugadoss has offered a sneak peek into Madharasi‘s narrative style and visual appeal. The director revealed that he aims to capture the cinematic essence of Thuppakki—his hit collaboration with Vijay—through striking visuals, while delivering a gripping screenplay inspired by the storytelling style of Ghajini, his acclaimed film with Suriya. This creative fusion is set to bring back the nostalgic era of AR Murugadoss—an era defined by sleek action sequences, powerful emotions, and masterful direction.
By evoking the signature styles of these iconic films, Madharasi is poised to attract not only Sivakarthikeyan’s loyal fanbase but also fans of Vijay and Suriya, who have long admired Murugadoss’s collaborations with the two stars. For Sivakarthikeyan fans, the film promises a real treat—a chance to see the actor in a dynamic, versatile role that showcases his range as both a performer and entertainer. With high expectations and a familiar Murugadoss touch, Madharasi could very well be a cinematic event that bridges generations of Tamil cinema lovers.

Madharasi also marks the return of Biju Menon to Tamil cinema after a 15-year hiatus, adding further excitement to the film’s ensemble. The movie introduces Rukmini Vasanth in her Tamil debut, while also reuniting AR Murugadoss with Vidyut Jammwal, who played the memorable antagonist in Thuppakki. Joining the cast are Vikranth and Shabeer Kallarakkal—widely recognized for his role as Dancing Rose in Pa Ranjith’s Sarpatta Parambarai—rounding out a strong and diverse lineup of talent.
On the technical side, Madharasi boasts an impressive crew, with music composed by Anirudh, cinematography handled by Sudeep Elamon, and editing by the renowned Sreekar Prasad. The film’s production design is helmed by Arun Venjaramoodu, while action sequences are choreographed by Kevin Kumar. Produced by Sri Lakshmi Movies, this marks Sivakarthikeyan’s 23rd film and is set for a grand theatrical release on September 5 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada.
