The Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM) at Multimedia University (MMU) has officially unveiled the 3rd International INVENTX Creative Exhibition 2025, under the compelling theme Sustainaissance: Emotion. Expression. Identity. Held at MMU’s eGallery, this vibrant showcase of creativity and innovation is now open to the public and will run until 21 August 2025.

This year’s 3rd International INVENTX Creative Exhibition features a remarkable collection of 72 curated artworks from seven countries—Malaysia, Singapore, Poland, Vietnam, China, Bangladesh, and Saudi Arabia—making it the most diverse and impactful edition to date. The launch event was marked by the presence of several distinguished guests and dignitaries, including YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President and CEO of Multimedia University; Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, CEO of TM R&D; Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, a renowned Malaysian academic; Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Palan, Pro-Chancellor of the University of Cyberjaya, Chairman of SMRT Holdings, and Group Managing Director of Minda Global Berhad; Tuan Hassan Muthalib, widely regarded as the Father of Malaysian Animation; Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Ooi Shih Yin, Chairperson of INVENTX; Ms. Nadia Mahmud, Dean of FCM; and Ts. Dr. Vimala Perumal, Director of the 3rd INVENTX Creative Exhibition and Deputy Dean of FCM.

Also in attendance were members of the MMU Management Committee, TM R&D leadership, Deans and Deputy Deans, industry partners, faculty members, students, and distinguished guests and friends. The event was officiated with a special poetic performance by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, symbolizing MMU’s dedication to nurturing creativity as a scholarly pursuit.

Launched in 2023 as a faculty-driven initiative featuring just eight academic artists, INVENTX has since grown into a globally recognized platform for practice-based research, centered on Non-Traditional Research Outputs (NTROs). Beginning in 2024, the exhibition established itself as a flagship co-located event at Multimedia University (MMU), distinguished by a rigorous peer-review process and active international participation.

“INVENTX Creative is more than an exhibition—it’s a platform for expression, a dialogue of identities, and a celebration of the emotional landscapes we navigate as creatives. Sustainaissance urges us to reimagine the future with a responsible creative voice. This exhibition exemplifies the value of Non-Traditional Research Outputs (NTROs) in higher education— demonstrating how creative works can serve as rigorous academic contributions that drive discourse, enrich pedagogy, and foster global collaboration. Art has a place in every classroom, and creativity belongs in every academic journey,” said Ts. Dr. Vimala Perumal, Director of INVENTX Creative Exhibition 2025.

The theme Sustainaissance—a blend of “sustainability” and “renaissance”—reflects the rising need for creative work that is not only socially and environmentally responsible but also emotionally impactful. This exhibition acts as a multidisciplinary platform, showcasing how Non-Traditional Research Outputs (NTROs) can play a significant role in advancing academic research while making a meaningful contribution to society.

This year’s highlights include:
• 72 curated artworks from seven countries
• Peer-reviewed submission process to ensure academic and artistic merit
• Integration of creative works into teaching and research practices
• Collaborative potential with international institutions, including RMIT Vietnam, Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd     University, Embassy of Poland, etc.

The 2025 edition reinforces the importance of Non-Traditional Research Outputs (NTROs) within the academic landscape, highlighting their role in expanding knowledge through innovative and impactful forms of research dissemination. INVENTX Creative remains a dynamic archive of creative scholarship, where emotion, expression, and identity are embraced as legitimate and valuable avenues of academic inquiry.
