A six-year-old boy named Tishant was reported missing in the Taman Bukit Indah area early on the morning of July 24. Iskandar Puteri district police chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan, said the police had received a report on the incident at about 2.15am that day from the boy’s 36-year-old father.
Father Arrested; Son Found Dead in Forest Area
Police said the case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Children Act 2001 and has been classified as a missing person case. Following the report, Johor police detained the boy’s father on the same day to assist with the investigation.
On July 28, at about 4.30pm, Jempol District Police received a report regarding the discovery of a body in the Rompin area of Jempol, Negeri Sembilan. It was later confirmed that the remains were those of Tishant, who had been found dead and buried in a forested area. Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the discovery was made following the arrest of the suspect by Johor police.
Post-Mortem Reveals Strangulation; Burial Tool Recovered
A post-mortem conducted at Rembau Hospital determined that Tishant died from strangulation caused by a cable tie.
“The autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was pressure from a cable tie around the victim’s neck,” he told Bernama when contacted today, adding that the case is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Meanwhile, Jempol police chief Supt Norhisham Mustapar said a hoe, believed to have been used by the suspect to dig the boy’s grave, was found in a secluded spot near Jalan Bahau–Rompin.

Family Conflict Comes to Light in Murder Investigation
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, Tishant’s father, had been experiencing marital problems and was in the process of divorcing his wife. Police said they were made aware of the domestic disputes and noted that the suspect has been uncooperative during the investigation.
A neighbour of A. Tishant said he often heard heated arguments between the boy’s parents and the sound of the child crying in the months leading up to his disappearance.
Tishant, six, was the couple’s only child. “I hadn’t seen him for more than a month,” the neighbour said, adding that the parents had stopped living at the house and would only visit separately.
According to NST, checks conducted yesterday found the double-storey low-cost terrace house locked and showing no signs of occupancy.
Investigation Shifts From Missing to Murder
The case, initially classified as a missing person investigation under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, has now been reclassified as a murder case under Section 302 of the Penal Code following the discovery of the boy’s body.
Investigations revealed that the child was allegedly killed, prompting murder charges to be brought against his father. If found guilty, the offence is punishable by the death penalty or a prison term of up to 40 years, along with caning.
The case has deeply unsettled the public, particularly due to the disturbing twist in which a father who reported his son missing is now accused of killing and burying him.
