Acclaimed director Lokesh Kanagaraj, best known for his action-packed blockbusters, recently revealed that he was initially approached to play the antagonist in the upcoming Sivakarthikeyan-starrer ‘Parasakthi’, directed by Sudha Kongara. In a recent interview with Valaipechu Bismi, Lokesh disclosed that both he and Sivakarthikeyan were keen on him taking the role, but scheduling conflicts ultimately prevented his involvement.
“I really liked the story of Parasakthi. I wanted to do the film, and even Sivakarthikeyan recommended I take up the role. But I couldn’t risk it with the timeline for Coolie. Now, as Coolie is gearing up for release, they’re actively shooting for the film. It would have been impossible for me to have managed both,” Lokesh explained.
With Coolie set to release on 14th August, Lokesh has been fully immersed in promotional activities for his sixth directorial. Following the Parasakthi offer, Lokesh accepted an acting opportunity in a project by Captain Miller director, Arun Matheswaran. For which he has been undergoing intensive martial arts training. Lokesh is expected to wrap this acting role before returning to the director’s chair for ‘Kaithi 2’ starring Karthi.
The antagonist role in Parasakthi has since been taken over by actor Ravi Mohan. The film features a stellar cast including Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Sreeleela, and Atharvaa in lead roles, with an ensemble supporting cast comprising Dev Ramnath, Prithvi Rajan, Guru Somasundaram, Basil Joseph, Ranjan Ramanayake, and Papri Ghosh. GV Prakash Kumar serves as the music composer.
As Parasakthi continues its production journey, fans can look forward to a powerful mix of talent both in front of and behind the camera-despite Lokesh Kanagaraj not taking on the villain’s role. Meanwhile, all eyes are on Coolie, Lokesh’s next major release, which features on ensemble cast including Nagarjuna Akkinenu, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, and Aamir Khan
