Women’s football in Malaysia is on the rise and Grab Malaysia is stepping onto the pitch to help take it to the next level. The leading superapp has announced its partnership with Liga Wanita Nasional (LWN) as the league’s Official e-Hailing and Food Delivery Platform, with the goal of elevating the sport, celebrating women athletes and inspiring Malaysians to rally behind the game.

The collaboration, officially launched at the kick-off of the 2025 LWN season, and witnessed by YB Hannah Yeoh, Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, marks a significant step in championing gender equality in sports.

This year’s tournament will see eight competitive teams battle for glory. Kelana United FC, KL Rangers FC, Kuala Lumpur FA, MBSJ FC, Red Eagles FC, Sabah FA, Selangor FC, and Young Tigress. Beyond the matches, the partnership aims to drive visibility for the league, enhance the fan experience, and empower women athletes both on and off the field.

Empowering Women On and Beyond the Field

Adelene Foo, Managing Director of Grab Malaysia, said the partnership reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to inclusive economic empowerment.
“At Grab, we are committed to empowering women to thrive – whether they are breaking barriers on the field or pursuing opportunities in their everyday lives. Our partnership with LWN reflects this mission and underscores our dedication to driving inclusive economic empowerment. Through initiatives like #SisBoleh, we’ve provided flexible earning opportunities for women, helping them achieve success on their own terms. What’s especially inspiring is that some of the league’s talented footballers are also driver- and delivery-partners on our platform, embodying resilience and determination. Together, we aim to rally Malaysians to champion women’s sports and celebrate the incredible achievements of women athletes, paving the way for a brighter and more inclusive future.”

Driving Visibility and Inspiration

FAM Exco and Chairman of the Women’s Football Committee, Dato’ Suraya Yaacob, lauded the partnership as a ‘powerful movement’ for women’s football.
“This partnership between LWN and Grab Malaysia is more than just a collaboration. It’s a powerful movement to elevate women’s football and amplify the voices of women athletes across Malaysia. Women’s sports deserve greater visibility and support, and with Grab Malaysia’s backing, we are taking important steps to grow the league and inspire Malaysians to rally behind these incredible athletes. Together, we are not only driving progress for women in sports but creating opportunities for the next generation to dream bigger and achieve more. We invite all Malaysians to join us in championing women’s football and celebrating the passion, talent, and resilience of our players.”

Bringing Fans Closer to the Game

Through the Grab app, users will gain greater access to LWN updates, match highlights, and player stories. On match days, spectators can order their favorite meals via GrabFood directly to the venue for a seamless experience. LWN players will also enjoy exclusive perks as part of Grab’s commitment to their holistic empowerment.

By combining Grab’s digital reach with LWN’s passion for women’s football, the partnership sets out to foster a stronger, more connected community for women in sports. Fans are encouraged to catch the action, cheer for their teams and support the growing women’s football movement. For more information, visit the Liga Wanita Nasional platform and follow the matches throughout the season.
