The Kulai Municipal Council (MPKu) has swiftly allocated RM300,000 to construct a retaining wall on a slope in Taman Putri, in an effort to protect the Sri Maha Saraswathy Temple from the risk of collapse caused by soil erosion.
Johor Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor announced that construction of the retaining wall will begin in September and is expected to be completed within three months.
“The soil erosion is the result of landslides that have been occurring over the past six months. We cannot afford to delay the project, as the erosion will worsen and repair costs will rise. More importantly, there is a serious risk that the Hindu temple could collapse,” he told reporters after inspecting the site with MPKu councillors today.
Mohd Jafni, who also serves as the Bukit Permai assemblyman, explained that the slope’s soil structure must first be reinforced before a concrete retaining wall can be constructed. He said the immediate RM300,000 allocation was provided by MPKu, as the application to the Housing and Local Government Ministry is still under review.

This initiative will be highly beneficial for the Sri Maha Saraswathy Temple and the surrounding community, as it will not only prevent further soil erosion but also ensure the safety and preservation of an important place of worship. The project is expected to bring long-term stability and peace of mind to the residents in the area.
The swift action by MPKu reflects the urgency of safeguarding the Sri Maha Saraswathy Temple and the surrounding community from further damage caused by soil erosion. With construction set to begin in September, the project aims not only to stabilise the slope but also to provide long-term protection for a place of worship that holds cultural and religious significance for the local Hindu community.
