Malaysia’s top women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan and M.Thinaah proved their resilience once again, surviving a nail-biting first-round encounter at the China Masters in Shenzhen yesterday.
The world No.2 duo overcame Indonesia’s Febrina Kusuma and Meilysa Puspitasari 20-22, 21-16, 22-20 in a match that stretched to 72 minutes, showcasing both stamina and determination.
Despite playing their third consecutive tournament in just 22 days, a stretch that has already seen them compete in 10 matches, Pearly and Thinaah showed no signs of slowing down. Their impressive run this season includes a historic silver medal at the World Championships in Paris, followed by a semi-final appearance at last week’s Hong Kong Open.

Yesterday’s victory also marked their second triumph in two weeks over Febrina-Meilysa, whom they defeated in the last 16 at the Hong Kong Open. With this win, Pearly and Thinaah remain strong contenders for a spot in the quarter-finals, where they are set to face American pair Francesca Corbett and Jenni Gai in the next round.
The Malaysians tenacity and consistency continue to underline why they are among the world’s elite, as fans eagerly watch their campaign unfold in Shenzhen.
