During the promotional events for his latest directorial and acting venture, Idly Kadai, Dhanush dropped a major update for cinema enthusiasts. The actor-filmmaker revealed to reporters that Vada Chennai 2 is slated to begin shooting in 2026, with a potential release set for 2027.
Idly Kadai, Dhanush’s third directorial outing after Raayan and Nilavukku En Mel Ennadi Kobam, features him alongside acclaimed actors including Nithya Menon, Arun Vijay, and others. The team confirmed that the movie will hit theatres on 1st October 2025 during its audio launch.
The original Vada Chennai, released in 2018, directed by Vetrimaaran was a gritty gangster drama that won the hearts of audiences with its gripping storyline and powerful performances. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited a sequel. Dhanush’s announcement has now raised excitement levels, with expectations for Vada Chennai 2 already running high among moviegoers.
