Malaysia’s women’s doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan and M.Thinaah continued their impressive form at the Arctic Open in Vantaa, Finland, cruising into the quarter finals yesterday.
The world No.2 pair were in commanding form as they brushed aside Indonesia’s Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari 21-17, 21-13, at the Energie Areena, extending their winning streak against the Indonesian duo to three consecutive matches this season.
The victory keeps Pearly and Thinaah firmly on course to defend the runner-up points from last year’s edition, where they reached the final before falling to China’s top ranked pair Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning.
Displaying sharp coordination and attacking consistency, the Malaysians showed why they remain among the most reliable pairs on the circuit. Their latest performance also serves as a timely confidence boost as they look to strengthen their bid for the world No.1 ranking in the coming months.

After capturing a historic silver medal at the World Championships in Paris in August, Pearly and Thinaah have been on an upward trajectory and are determined to carry their momentum through the European leg of the season.
The duo are expected to face Taiwan’s world No.18 pair, Hsu Yin Hui and Lin Jhih Yun, in the quarter finals on Friday.
