In the spirit of fostering inclusivity and cultural harmony, the Higher Education Ministry has announced that public higher education institutions will be allowed to conduct online or hybrid classes from 16th-24th October in conjunction with the upcoming Deepavali celebrations.
The flexibility applies to all public universities, polytechnics, and community colleges, offering students and lecturers the opportunity to travel home and celebrate the Festival of Lights with their families while maintaining the continuity of academic activities, slightly longer then the holidays given.
According to the ministry, the decision was made following the discussions with relevant departments and agencies, reflecting the government’s commitment to supporting Malaysia’s multicultural and multireligious society.

The ministry added that implementation will depend on each institution’s academic requirements, ensuring that the transition to online or hybrid learning does not disrupt teaching and learning process.
