Malaysia’s squash sensation S.Sivasangari continued her fine run of form by storming into the semi-finals of the US$130,500 Silicon Valley Open in Redwood City, United States. The world No.8 battled past American world No.9 Amanda Sobhy with a gritty 12-10, 12-10, 8-11, 11-6 victory, marking her fourth win over Sobhy in six meetings
“It’s always tough playing Amanda, she’s so skilful. I just tried to focus on my game and despite a lot of errors on my part, I’m glad I managed to sneak the win in four games. She’s really good in the middle, she’s a wonderful player. I just tried to hang in there at every point and fight,” Sivasangari told the PSA World Tour.

The third seed will now face Egypt’s seventh seed Salma Hany for a spot in the final. Hany, ranked world No.15, stunned Japan’s world No.7 Satomi Watanabe in a thrilling four-game match, 11-13, 11-8, 11-9, 11-8.
National coach Ajaz Azmat praised Sivasangari’s tactical maturity, noting that she adapted her approach to gain the upper hand.
“She changed her style of play by executing a more attacking game from the front court which paid off well with some fine shots”.
Looking ahead, Ajaz acknowledge the challenge Sivasangari will face against Salma Hany.
“Salma has beaten Sivasangari in the last meeting in five games in the second round of El Gouna International Open in April.”
