As homes across Malaysia glow with lamps and laughter, brands too have joined in to spread the festive warmth through their Deepavali campaigns. Every year, advertisements find new ways to tell stories that go beyond the surface of celebration, stories that reflect the values of family, culture, and connection that define the Festival of Lights.

In 2025, Malaysian brands have outdone themselves with heartfelt storytelling and creative visuals that capture the true essence of Deepavali. Instead of focusing solely on products, this year’s ads delve into deeper themes–celebrating imperfect families, cherishing love, and reminding Malaysians of what truly matters.

These campaigns prove that festive advertising isn’t just about marketing, it’s about storytelling that unites communities and sparks emotion. Here are some of the most memorable Deepavali 2025 advertisements that have touched hearts and should be watched as we celebrate the festival today.

 1) CelcomDigi ‘Nam Thadam’

The one minute 37 second CelcomDigi’s ‘Nam Thadam’ advertisement pays tribute to the everyday heroes who keep Deepavali traditions alive, the garland weavers, lamp makers and artisans who bring colour, fragrance, and light to the celebration. The ad captures moments of quiet pride, and perseverance, showing how these individuals form narration.

2) Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), ‘The Perfect Family’

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) once again shines with an unique humorous story that mirrors every Malaysian household. ‘The Perfect Family’ a 4 minutes 27 seconds film follows a young girl named Susila who experiences the same Deepavali routine every year at home, until this year, when she discovers the true meaning of the festival.

3) Mah Sing Group, “Appa..,Why Her?”

Mah Sing’s Appa…Why Her? Unravels a simple yet heartwarming story about how love can begin the the most unexpected moments. The ad follows a father who shares to his son on his relationship with his wife. What starts as a ordinary Deepavali celebration takes a sweet turn when the girl next door brings over murukku. The story beautiful captures the charm of festive connections, showing that sometimes love begins with one visit.

4) Mr.DIY- “A Gift of Light”

MR.DIY’s “A Gift of Light” is an emotional story that follows a young girl named Priya, who is blind. After being teased by a boy for not being able to see a painting that he and his friends were talking about. Realising his mistakes, the boy decides to visit Priya’s home along with his mother on Deepavali to apologize.

5) AmBank Malaysia- “Rhythm of Deepavali”

Ambank’s Rhythm of Deepavali takes viewers on a graceful and uplifting journey through the art of Bharatanatyam. The film follows a dancer whose every step reflects the values of unity, harmony, and togetherness that define the festival. 

6) Foodpanda- “Shoes of Kindness”

It’s heartwarming when people notice little things about us, and Foodpanda’s Deepavali ad captures that perfectly. The story follows a hardworking delivery rider who spends his days ensuring others can celebrate joyfully. His friends, notice his worn-out shoes, surprises him with a thoughtful Deepavali gift. The gesture, simple yet powerful highlights friendship, gratitude and unity.

7) Maybank- ‘Light of Laughter’

Maybank’s Deepavali campaign captures the joy of giving and the bonds that light up every home. Featuring singer-comedian Murty, hosting a lively Deepavali open house, the ad overflows with laugher, music and togetherness.

8) Petronas- ‘‘Santapan Kasih’

Petronas will always never miss when it comes to storytelling, and this year’s Deepavali advertisement is a 6 minute story on Presence Over Performance, continues that tradition. The ad reminds viewers that Deepavali isn’t about grand gestures or big feast, it’s about being present, and being there for one another.

A Season of Light, Laughter and Love

This year’s Deepavali ads illuminate the values the define Malaysia, unity in diversity, compassion in action, and joy in togetherness. Whether through emotional storytelling or moments of humour and laughter, each brand captures a different shade of the festival, reminding us that Deepavali’s brightest light comes not from lamps but from the people we celebrate it with.
