Transport Minister Anthony Loke has issued a stern reminder to motorists nationwide to settle their outstanding Road Transport Department (JPJ) summonses before 1 January 2026.
Loke warned that those who fail to clear their traffic fines by the deadline risk facing stricter enforcement actions, including being blacklisted or taken to court.
According to the Transport Ministry, there are currently 5.5 million unpaid JPJ summonses across the country. The minister also cautioned that motorists who continue to ignore their unpaid summonses may face difficulties renewing their driving licences or road tax.

To encourage payment, the ministry has introduced a 50% discount on all JPJ summonses from 1 November to 31 December 2025. Loke urged motorists to take advantage of this opportunity to settle their dues and avoid potential penalties.
The initiative aims to promote greater compliance with road regulations and reduce the backlog of unpaid traffic fines before the new year.
