The Malaysian Ministry of Health has issued an immediate prohibition on the sale and distribution of the Thai‐made inhaler “Hong Thai Formula 2”, following reports of microbial contamination and a recall issued in Thailand.
According to the statement, the inhaler in question is not registered with the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) in Malaysia, meaning it is not authorised for sale or circulation under Malaysian regulations. The Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations prohibit the sale or possession of unregistered medications.
The recall in Thailand was triggered after the product failed health‐quality tests, prompting the Thai Food and Drug Administration to issue an urgent alert. Malaysian health authorities say the inhaler is still being advertised and sold via multiple e-commerce platforms. Enforcement action is underway, with complaints lodged to platform operators requesting listings be removed forthwith.
The Ministry strongly advises the public not to purchase or use Hong Thai Formula 2. Any existing stocks should be discarded or returned via authorised channels.
