A section of road in Semenyih has been closed off to traffic after a sinkhole measuring about four metres deep opened up near SK Bandar Tasik Kesuma earlier yesterday.
The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) confirmed that the affected area has been cordoned off immedietly to ensure public safety. The sinkhole reportedly appeared close to a sewer utility pipeline, prompting concerns over potential damage to underground infrastructre.
Images circulating online show a large, gaping hole in the middle of the road, raising alarm among nearby residents and motorists who frequently use the route. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported so far.

MPKj said that repair and inspection works are being carried out by relevant agencies, including the Public Works Department (JKR) and Indah Water Konsortium (IWK), to assess structural risks and determine the extent of underground damage.
The council has also urged road users to avoid the affected area and follow the traffic diversions set up nearby until further notice.
As of now, authorities have yet to announce when the road will reopen, but updates will be provided once repair works are completed.
