Transport Minister Anthony Loke has announced that the Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) line, which connects Shah Alam with surrounding areas in Selangor, is scheduled to be launched on December 31, 2025.
Anthony Loke mentioned that the project is currently in its final testing and commissioning phase, which includes the crucial Fault-Free Run (FFR). The FFR is a continuous trial run conducted to ensure that the system operates without any technical issues before passengers are allowed onboard.
Although several trial operations without passengers have already occurred, ongoing assessments of signaling systems, station safety, and staff readiness are still in progress.

To ensure smooth operations, Rapid Rail has recruited 956 personnel across its operations, engineering, technical, and support units. This workforce will guarantee that the line operates efficiently once it becomes fully operational. Additionally, the budget allocated by the Transport Ministry under Budget 2026 has been approved by Parliament, providing the necessary resources to support the launch.
The LRT3 line, originally set to launch in September 2025, is now nearing completion. If all safety tests are successfully passed, commuters in Shah Alam and the surrounding areas can look forward to using the new rail service starting on December 31.
