Tamil Superstar Ajith Kumar’s deep passion for motorsports is finally being captured on camera, with filmmaker AL Vijay confirming that a special project documenting his racing journey is currently underway. Speaking in a recent interview, the director revealed that he has been closely following Ajith on the racing circuit, calling it a rare and privileged opportunity to witness the star in his ‘true world’.
According to Vijay, the idea for the project was initiated by Ajith and his longtime associate Suresh Chandra, who personally invited him to chronicle the actor’s experiences in competitive racing.
“When Ajith sir walked in on the first day, he looked at me and said, Welcome to my world. That moment itself said everything. This is a completely different universe from films, far more intense, demanding and dangerous than it appears from the outside,” he said.

A World of Grit, Risk, and Relentless Passion
Vijay shared that racing, as described by Ajith, is a ‘do-or-die’ environment where every second matters and survival itself is the greatest achievement. From the critical precision of driver swaps under 20 seconds to the immense physical and mental conditioning required, the filmmaker said he gained a completely new respect for both the sport and Ajith.
He told me very simply, “You just have to come out alive”. Those are big words. Only when you stand on that track, you’ll understand what he means. Ajith sir is deeply passionate and fully committed. Seeing his discipline, focus, and humility up close has been eye-opening,” Vijay said, adding that he is documenting the journey with multi-camera setups in 4K to ensure every detail is preserved.
Beyond the adrenaline, what impressed Vijay most was Ajith’s grounded personality. Despite being a star, he works with no entourage, performs simple tasks himself and carries an aura of quiet determination.
A Rising Motorsport Icon
Ajith Kumar recently competed in the opening rounds of the 2025-2026 Asian Le Man Series in Sepang International Circuit, racing in the LMP3 category alongside Team Virage. Fans turned up in huge numbers, and director Vijay was among those managing the crowd as filming continued.

While Vijay did not reveal whether the project will take the form of a documentary series or a docu-film, he confirmed that the decision will ultimately rest with Ajith. For now the focus remains on documenting his journey authentically and comprehensively.
Apart from this project, AL Vijay is also working on his next feature film ‘Kadhal Reset Repeat’, while Ajith is set to begin filming AK64 early next year. But for now, all eyes remain on the racing track, where Ajith Kuamr continues to redefine himself not just as a cinema star, but as an athlete driven by sheer passion and fearless determination.
