The Malaysia Hindu Sangam has welcomed the Selangor State government’s announcement to introduce free Tamil language classes, said MHS National President Sri Kasi Sangabhooshan Thanga Ganeshan AMN, ASA.
In the statement, he also expressed the organisation’s appreciation to the Selangor Menteri Besar for making the announcement after recognising the importance of mother tongue education.

The Malaysian Hindu Sangam clearly emphasised that the optional or temporary classes alone are not sufficient. To ensure the continuous use and preservation of the Tamil language, it should be implemented as compulsory or structured subject in schools.
Schools are the most effective platforms for language preservation. By properly integrating Tamil into school education system, multilingual efficiency, cultural awareness and social unity can be further strengthened.
The Malayian Hindu Sangam stressed that Selangor as a progressive state should take the lead in this initiative and serve as a national model. It also stated that the Malaysian Hindu Sangam is ready to provide full cooperation to ensure the successful implementation of this initiative.
