The Selangor state government has officially reopened applications for the RM1,000 study grant aimed at supporting higher education students who were born in Selangor. This initiative is designed to ease the financial burden faced by students as they pursue their higher studies at various educational institutions. The application period has been extended until April 14, allowing more students to benefit from this financial assistance.

Selangor Chief Minister Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced that this year, the state government has allocated RM5 million for the grant, a significant increase from last year’s allocation of RM3 million. This enhancement reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that a larger number of eligible students can take advantage of this valuable assistance.

The application process is straightforward and can be completed online via the official government website. It is important to note that the RM1,000 grant is specifically available for first-year students pursuing higher education. Additionally, eligible applicants must be either students or parents who were both born and residing in Selangor, or those who have lived in the state for over 11 years.

For those students who have recently completed their SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) examinations, it is crucial to include their SPM results when submitting their application. This requirement helps to ensure that the application process is thorough and facilitates the verification of eligibility. The grant is part of Selangor’s ongoing effort to support educational growth and access among its youth, helping to empower the next generation of leaders and professionals.
