The death of 14-year-old Keziah Nisha, a student of SMK Danau Kota, has sparked concern among her family, politicians and members of the public, with growing calls for a thorough and swift investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. Concerns have also been raised over allegations that the teenager had experienced bullying and whether sufficient action was taken after the matter was brought to the attention of the school.
Family Urges Authorities to Act Swiftly
According to Keziah Nisha’s family, the teenager had reportedly informed her parents about being bullied at school since February. Her parents subsequently approached the school and raised their concerns, hoping that appropriate action would be taken. However, the family claimed that the situation was unresolved, raising questions about whether sufficient intervention was provided.

During her funeral, a relative of Keziah said that a police report had been lodged and questioned why stronger action was not taken by the school authorities after the concerns were raised. The family has since urged the relevant authorities to speed up the investigation and take appropriate action to ensure that no other family has to experience a similar loss.
The family has also appealed to members of the public to refrain from spreading unverified or false information regarding Keziah’s death, stressing the importance of allowing the investigation to proceed based on facts.
Education Minister Orders Internal Investigation
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek has directed the Education Ministry’s (KPM) School Inspectorate, Kuala Lumpur District Education Office (PPD) and Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Education Department (JPWPKL) to expedite the internal investigation into Keziah’s death.

Fadhlina stressed that all concerns raised by the public, including possible elements of bullying and racism, must be taken seriously and investigated based on facts and proper procedures. KPM is also cooperating fully with the police, Social Welfare Department (JKM) and Ministry of Health (KKM) to ensure the matter is addressed comprehensively.
She also said that psychosocial support has been provided to Keziah’s family, while teachers and students affected by the incident are receiving the necessary support and intervention from KPM’s counselling and Smart Support teams.
MPs Call for Safer Schools
Wangsa Maju Member of Parliament Zahir Hassan also visited Keziah’s family and expressed concern over the situation, stressing that schools should always be a safe space for children to learn, grow and seek help when facing difficulties.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Unity, Yuneswaran Ramaraj stressed that school management must create an environment where students feel safe and comfortable sharing their concerns. He said school authorities must respond swiftly whenever they become aware that a student is facing bullying or other forms of misconduct.

Calls for Action to Prevent More Tragedies
The concerns surrounding Keziah’s death have once again highlighted the importance of ensuring that schools remain safe spaces for every child, where students can speak up without fear and receive immediate support when they face bullying or discrimination.
With the family calling for a faster investigation, there are growing expectations for the authorities to establish the facts and take appropriate action based on the findings. The case also serves as a reminder that complaints involving bullying must never be overlooked, as early intervention and swift action could be crucial in preventing further tragedies and protecting the lives and wellbeing of students.
