The Ministry of Human Resources has announced the launch of 10,422 skills training programs through the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). These programs will focus on empowering the Indian community, as well as supporting micro, small, and medium-sized entrepreneurs.
Human Resources Minister, Dato Sri R Ramanan said the large-scale initiative is expected to benefit around 210,510 participants nationwide, offering opportunities to enhance employability, strengthen business capabilities and improve income levels.

According to him, the training programmes will cover a wide range of skill areas, workplace competency and entrepreneurship development. In addition to formal training, NIOSH will also conduct 921 awareness and consultancy sessions along with 455 information programmes to expand public understanding of workplace safety, health and skills upgrading.
Ramanan said the ministry is committed to building a more structured and transparent management ecosystem through an integrated system covering finance, procurement, human resource management and reporting. He added, this will ensure the initiatives are carried out efficiently and deliver measurable impact to the target groups.

The minister also highlighted MARINA 3.0, a research framework for the period 2026 to 2030, which will guide national priorities in occupational safety and health research. The framework will involve contributions from both local and international experts to strengthen Malaysia’s position in the sector.
Ramanan expressed confidence that continued efforts under NIOS will strengthen the culture of occupational safety and health across the country, while simultaneously empowering the Indian community through greater access to training and skills development.
