Astro Brings Thaipusam Celebrations to Homes Nationwide with Three-Day Live Broadcast

Astro is set to bring vibrant spirit, devotion, and grandeur of Thaipusam to audiences across Malaysia with a special three-day live broadcast, running from 30th January, 9.00PM to 1st February, 11.59PM. The extensive coverage will offer viewers an immersive look into one of the country’s most significant Hindu festivals, featuring live updates, sacred rituals, and chariot processions from key temples nationwide.

Available on Astro Vinmeen (Channel 202) via TV, Astro GO, On Demand, and sooka, the live telecast will capture the atmosphere and spiritual intensity of Thaipusam as it unfolds across multiple locations, including Batu Caves, Ipoh, Georgetown, and Sungai Petani.

Live Coverage from Iconic Temples Across Malaysia

The three-day broadcast will showcase exclusive on-ground coverage from some of Malaysia’s most revered temples, including:

  • Batu Caves Sri Subramaniar Swamy Devasthanam, Gombak, Selangor
  • Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, Gombak, Selangor
  • Kallumalai Arulmigu Subramaniyar Temple, Ipoh, Perak

  • Sri Subramaniya Swami Devasthanam Temple, Sungai Petani, Kedah

‘Nandri Kantha’ Theme Anchors Devotion and Storytelling

Themed ‘Nandri Kantha’, the live telecast will be guided by a diverse line-up of both pioneer and new hosts, including Sothirajen Paranjothi, Meena Kumari Kadiapan, Aruna Raj Devarajoo, Inthumathi Subarmanian, Nathiya Jayabalan, Mahendran Veluplay, Sures Thirugana Sambanthan, Vikadakavi Magen, Sri Kumaran Munusamy, Revathy Mariappan, Gunasilan Sivakumar, Kabil Ganesan, Sivaraj Lingaraj, and Shantene Subramaniam.

Together, they will lead viewers through the Thaipusam experience with a blend of in-studio discussions, live temple updates, on-ground commentary, and interviews with devotees, providing cultural context and personal stories that reflect the festival’s spiritual significance.

Beyond live television coverage, Malaysia cab further immerse themselves in the devotional atmosphere of Thaipusam by tuning in to 24-hour devotional songs on RAAGA radio, allowing the festival’s spiritual essence to resonate throughout the day.
