The government has begun disbursing the RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) credit yesterday, 9th February 2026, as part of it’s ongoing efforts to help Malaysians cope with the rising cost of living.

Under the SARA For All programme, all Malaysians aged 18 and above will receive a one-off RM100 credit, with a total allocation of RM2.2 Billion. The initiative is expected to benefit more than 22 million adult MyKad holders nationwide.

Expanded List of Items You Can Buy

In a statement issued, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the programme has been expanded to include frozen food items, following public feedback. With this addition, the number of approved categories has increased to 15 essential goods categories, covering up to 140,000 products that can be purchased using the SARA credit.

According to Datuk Seri Anwar, the improvements were introduced to enhance purchasing convenience and flexibility, ensuring the aid better meets the daily needs of Malaysians.

  • Beverages
  • Seasoning
  • Canned Food
  • Personal Hygiene Products
  • Over-the-counter (OTC) medications

More Retailers to Join the Programme

To improve accessibility, the government aims to expand retailer participation under the programme. By the end of the year, 10,000 retailers are expected to take part, including more small retail shops.

Efforts are also underway to reduce the distance to the nearest participating store to within 7 kilometres, making it easier for beneficiaries to utilise their SARA credit.

Validity and How to Check Your SARA Balance

The RM100 SARA credit is valid until 31st December 2026, giving recipients ample time to utilise the assistance. Eligible Malaysians can check their SARA balance, eligibility status, items that can be purchased and the lost of participating outlets through the programme’s official portal.

With it’s expanded product list and wider retail reach, the SARA For All programme aims to provide meaningful relief for everyday necessities while easing the financial burden on Malaysian household.
