Acclaimed filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj has hinted that a sequel to his popular 2022 action drama Mahaan could be in the works, though it may still be some time before it becomes a reality.
Karthik Subbaraj revealed that he has a “small idea” for Mahaan 2 but still needs to develop the story properly. He added that, based on his current timeline, the film could realistically happen in year 2027 or 2028, as he is currently busy with other projects and writing process.
Mahaan, which premiered directly on OTT platform Prime Video in February 2022 during the pandemic has continued to resonate with audiences, earning praise for its performances and storytelling. The film starred Chiyaan Vikram and Dhruv Vikram and became well-known for its emotional depth and action sequences.
Fans have been eager for a continuation since the first film’s release, and Karthik Subbaraj’s comments have reignited speculation about what could come next. An official announcement has not yet been made, but anticipation continues to build around the possibility of the father-son duo reuniting on screen again.
