A day after the announcement that Sivakarthikeyan’s next project, tentatively titled SK25, will be produced by Kamal Haasan, the makers have officially revealed the film’s titled and first look. Titled Seyon, the film is set to be written and directed by filmmaker Sivakumar Murugesan and is billed as a rural entertainer.
The project marks a significant collaboration between Sivakarthikeyan and Kamal Haasan, with the latter backing the film under his production banner Raaj Kamal Films International. This comes close on the heels of the success of Amaran strengthening the creative association between the two.
A Striking First Look Rooted in Rural Symbolism
The first look poster of Seyon features Sivakarthikeyan in a rugged rural avatar, wielding a machete and standing amid peacocks, imagery that has sparked curiosity and speculation online. The title Seyon, another name associated with Lord Murugan in Tamil culture, combined with the visual elements, hints at a narrative deeply rooted in rural ethos and symbolism.
While the makers have not disclosed plot details, the visual language suggests a grounded, mass-appeal entertainer that leans into folk aesthetics and raw emotion.
A Director on the Cusp of His Debut
Interestingly, Seyon is being helmed by Sivakumar Murugesan, whose debut directorial Thaai Kizhavi is yet to hit theatres. The film, starring Radikaa Sarathkumar is produced by Sivakarthikeyan himself and has now been postponed from it’s earlier release date to 27th February.
Despite being a debutant, Sivakumar Murugesan has already earned industry confidence now directing a major star vehicle produced by Kamal Haasan, even before his first film’s release.
Strong Technical Team on Board
The technical crew of Seyon adds further weight to the project. Music will be composed by Santhosh Narayanan with cinematography by Vivek Vijayakumar and editing by San Lokesh. The combination signals a film that balances mainstream appeal with strong craft.
Speaking earlier about the project, Sivakarthikeyan had said, “It is a kind of a film people will expect from me. It will be a film that is expected from me by all”, suggesting a return to a space that resonates strongly with his core audience.
Sivakarthikeyan was last seen in the Tamil period political drama Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara. The film set against the anti-Hindi agitations of the 1950s and 60s in Tamil Nadu, marked his 25th outing as a lead actor and featured Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and Sreeleela in key roles.
