Malaysia is preparing for a major tourism push in 2026, with ambitious plans to attract 2.1 millions visitors from India as part of its Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign. This represents a 34.6% increase from Indian arrivals in year 2025 and highlights India as a priority source market for Malaysian tourism.
Destinations like Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Penang are expected to shine as cultural, culinary and natural hotspots for Indian travelers. Malaysia’s diverse offerings from modern city life and street food to beaches and heritage sites remain as key attractions from visitors from across India.

Malaysia’s tourism sector ended year 2025 on a strong note, welcoming 42.2 million international visitors, an 11.2% increase over the previous year and a 20.4% rise compared to pre-pandemic figures. Indian tourists have been major drivers of this growth, with 1.56 million arrivals recorded in year 2025.
One of the main factors boosting Indian travel to Malaysia has been enhanced air connectivity. There are currently over 230 weekly direct flights connecting Malaysian destinations with cities across India, making travel more accessible and convenient.

The Malaysian government and industry stakeholders have launched targeted promotions and strategic partnerships in India to reach the 2.1 milliom visitor goal, including travel trade events, flight expansions and tailored marketing efforts across major Indian cities.
As Malaysia prepares for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, the country hopes its efforts will not only reinforce existing travel trends but also bring in record numbers of Indian tourists, solidifying long-term ties and boosting the nation’s tourism economy.
