In a significant milestone for Malaysia’s agricultural and science communities, Dr Mahaletchumy Arujanan has been appointed as the Country Director for Malaysia for the World Agriculture Forum (WAF), a global organisation dedicated to advancing sustainable agriculture and food systems.
The appointment was confirmed by an official announcement shared on digital platform by Malaysia Board of Technologists, congratulating Dr Mahaletchumy to international leadership team. This role positions her as a key representative for Malaysia within the organisation, strengthening partnerships and collaborations between local stakeholders and the global agricultural community.

A Leader in Science, Communication and Agriculture
Dr Mahaletchumy Arujanan is the Executive Director of the Malaysian Biotechnology Information Centre (MABIC) and also Member of Board of Malaysia Board of Technologists. She has played a pioneering role in promoting science communication in Malaysia. Her efforts include the first science communication training module for scientists in Malaysia and runs training workshops and established the Asian Short Course on Agribiotechnology, Biosafety Regulations and Communication.
Dr. Mahaletchumy also serves on several boards and advisory committees, working with organisations that influence science policy, education and technology development in the region.
