Vijay was last seen in AR Murugadoss’s political drama ‘Sarkar’ which was a massive hit at the box office. Now he is busy filming his next ‘Bigil’ with director Atlee. The film is touted to be a sports drama, AGS Entertainment will be bankrolling this project and the makers are eying for a release in Diwali 2019.
The project is tentatively titled ‘Thalapathy 64’ will be directed by filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj of ‘Maanagaram’ fame has highly impressed the actor by a story narrating a story. He has currently completed an all-male film ‘Kaidhi’ starring Karthi in the lead role.
The film will be a completely different one which will showcase the Thalapathy in an entirely new avatar that will be a joyous treat for his fans.
It was speculated that the film will have scope for two heroines and Raashi Khanna of ‘Adanga Maru’ fame and Rashmika Mandana of ‘Geetha Govindam’ fame are in talks for the lead roles. Kiara Advani has been roped in to play the lead and will be making her debut in Tamil with this film. Also in a recent interview, the actress said that she will be making her debut in Tamil soon.
Sneha Britto the daughter of a film producer Brito will be bankrolling this film. Britto has two production companies namely BV Combines and Esthell Entertainment. Sneha Britto had made her directorial debut through the film ‘Sattam Oru Iruttarai-2’ in 2012 is also reported to be part of Thalapathy 64’s directorial team.
Anirudh Ravichander will be roped in to compose music for the film while Sathyan Sooryan will be cranking the camera and Philomin Raj will handle the editing respectively. The film is expected to go on floors in the late October and makers are eying for a mid-2020 release.
