Senator Lingesh RA, who is also Vice President of Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) has sponsored a total of 100 new laptops, valued at RM200,000, for higher education students in Penang. On March 15, 2026, the first batch of students received 31 laptops during a ceremony held at Mantra Restaurant, City Bayview Hotel. The event was attended by students who are pursuing their higher education at both government and private institutions. This initiative began in 2025, when 80 laptops were distributed to students. Due to increased demand, the number of laptops has been raised to 100.

The initiative also focuses on equal opportunity by providing laptops to students regardless of their race, religion, or background. Lingesh RA reported that within 72 hours of opening applications for this laptop initiative, over 300 students applied. After careful consideration, 100 students were selected to receive a laptop. He also assured the rest of the distributions of laptops will take place in the coming weeks.

Lingesh RA expressed his gratitude to Lim Guan Eng, RSN Rayer, and Dato Dhinagaran for attending the event and supporting the program. This initiative aims to improve students’ access to education and help them succeed academically, emphasizing that a laptop is no longer a luxury but a necessity for higher education students.
