The Ministry of Health has issued a statement assuring the public that the medical supply chain remains stable and is not facing shortages despite the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. This reassurance comes as concerns have arisen regarding the potential impact of Middle East conflicts on the availability of essential medicines.
According to the Ministry, the monitoring of medicine supplies and inventory is conducted regularly to ensure that the stock levels are sufficient to meet the needs of the population. Hospitals are maintaining adequate supplies, with medicine stock levels fluctuating between one to three months based on current usage requirements. Furthermore, an additional stockpile is available, providing up to two months of extra resources.
The oversight of medicine supply is conducted by Product Registration Holders (PRH), under the management of the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA). This system plays a crucial role in ensuring that pharmaceutical companies can meet the demands for medications.
Feedback from local pharmaceutical industries has indicated that the raw materials required for producing medicines are sufficient for up to three months. Additionally, importers are closely monitoring supply chains to further bolster the availability of these critical resources.
The Ministry of Health has emphasized its commitment to closely monitoring the stock and supply of medicines, ensuring that the public has access to the medical supplies they need during these uncertain times. With continuous assessments and proactive measures in place, the Ministry aims to maintain a reliable supply of essential medicines for all citizens.
