Marriott Bonvoy Invites Travellers to Experience Songkran in Style Across Thailand This April

As Thailand is getting ready for one of it’s annual celebrations “Songkran”. Marriott Bonvoy is inviting travelers to join this celebrations in April. Songkran is considered as Thai New Year, and it is a festival all over the country that combines joyful waterfights with meaningful cultural traditions, transforming Thailand into a lively and exciting place to be during the celebration.

This celebration will happen from 13th to 15th April. All the cities and towns in Thailand will be filled with fun activities. These activities range from street parties to calm temple rituals. Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio has over 30 hotel brands, and they offer guests the opportunity to experience the festival through curated stays that combines comfort, culture, and convenience.

A Citywide Celebration in Bangkok

In Bangkok the center of all the “Songkran” celebrations, you can find parties in historical places like Silom Road. Where thousands of people gather for one of the city’s water fights, Near CentralWorld Square there will be music events making it a great place for both locals and travellers.

If you want to experience the high-energy side of Songkran, you can go to the s20 Music Festival. Which has a mix of electronic music light shows and water-based fun. If you prefer culture and tradition, you can visit Wat Pho. Here you can experience rituals and ceremonies, offering a deeper cultural perspective on the festival. 

Pattaya’s Week-Long Festivities

Beyond the capital, Pattaya extends the celebrations with Wan Lai Festival, turning Songkran into a week-long event from 13th to 19th April. The city’s beachfront becomes a vibrant hub of activity, with water battles, parades, and family-friendly attractions like waterparks, to enhance the festive atmosphere.

Phuket and the Southern Coast

In Phuket, Songkran is celebrated in a tropical setting. Patong Beach and Bangla Road are the places to go for nightlife and waterfun. Phuket Town offers a cultural experience with temple visits and traditional street celebrations.

Marriott Bonvoy’s beachfront resorts adds a layer of exclusivity, by hosting their own Songkran-themes activities. For those who wants calmness, nearby destinations such as Khao Lak offers a more relaxed settings.

Koh Samui has a mix of fun celebrations and peaceful atmosphere. In Chaweng you can experience the side of Songkran while Bophut’s Fisherman’s Village is more relaxed. You can enjoy both the beachfront festivities while retreating to luxurious hotel which is just a short walk from the quieter areas. Also Chiang Mai offers one of the most culturally rich Songkran experiences. The historic city hosts parades, performances and traditional ceremonies set against ancient walls and temples. At War Doi Suthep, visitors can take part in spiritual rituals that reflect the deeper meaning of the festival.
