SPM 2025 Achievers Best Results in Five Years, Says Education Director-General

The SPM 2025 results have been released yesterday and has recorded the best overall performance in the past 5 years, according to Education director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad.

The National Average Grade (GPK) has improved 4.42 in 2025, compared to 4.49 in 2024. As the GPK system measures performance with lower scores showing better results, this marks a positive improvement in students overall achievement. Speaking at a press conference, Azam has said the latest results reflect strongest performance since the introduction of KSSM in 2021.

Steady Improvement Over the Years

The GPK has showed consistent progress over time, improving from 4.86 in 2021, to 4.42 in 2025. This indicates stronger academic performance among candidates nationwide. There were also a positive development in closing the gap between urban and rural students. The difference was narrowed to 0.41 points, with urban candidates recording a GPK of 4.40 and rural candidates achieving 4.81. Both groups has showed improvement compared to previous year.

A total of 13,779 students achieved excellent results, by scoring A+, A, A- in all subjects. Among them, 376 students obtained straight A+.The number of students who achieved a credit in all subject also increased 92, 347 up from 86,040 in 2024.Out of 413, 299 candidates who sat for SPM across 3,350 centres nationwide, 366, 435 or 94.29 per cent qualified for SPM certificate.

This improved results reflect continued efforts by Malaysian students, teachers and education system. With stead progress, the 2025 results highlights positive direction for education landscape.
