S.Sivasangari exited the El Gouna International Open as she lost in the quarter final match to Nour El Sherbini, who is the world No.2 and 8th time world champion.
Nour El Sherbini won the match with a score of 12-10, 11-8, 11-9 victory. The whole match took 35 minutes, Sivasangari, who is currently the world No.6 equally gave a hard fight.

Every set in the game was close. Sivasangari did give a hard fight which pushed Nour El Sherbini to the limit. She was competitive throughout the competition, especially in the opening game. This marks El Sherbini’s fifth win over Sivasangari in six meetings.
After the game, El Sherbini spoke and she acknowledged the challenge as she compete against Sivasangari. El Sherbini described Sivasangari as a skillful player, and noted that adapting glass court was a challenge as it was Sivasangari’s first time on the surface in a tournament. El Sherbini added she focused on executing her game plan and maintain accuracy to secure the win.

With this victory, El Sherbini moves to semi-finals where she will face Olivia Weaver from the United States. Olivia Weaver won her spot in the last four after defeating England’s Georgina Kennedy with 11-8, 11-8, 11-5 in their quarter finals competition.

Despite the defeat, Sivasangari’s performance against one of the sport’s top player highlights her continued presence among the world’s elite on the international squash stage.
