Malaysia’s top women’s doubles pair, Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan, faced a disappointing end to their campaign at the 2026 Badminton Asia Championships after losing in the quarter-finals. The world number two duo played against a Chinese pair, and the match concluded in just 41 minutes with scores of 13-21 and 15-21.

During the match, the Malaysian pair struggled to perform at their usual level, committing unforced errors and lacking their typical attacking sharpness. This allowed their opponents to dominate the game.

This defeat came on the heels of a hard-fought victory in the previous round, where Pearly and Thinaah battled through a tense three-game match to reach the quarter-finals. Their early exit marks a disappointing end to what initially seemed like a promising tournament run, as they had shown resilience in earlier rounds but failed to sustain that momentum when it mattered most.
