S.Sivasangari is now at the edge of achieving a career milestone, as she aims on breaking into the world’s top five at the upcoming Grasshopper Cup in Zurich, Switzerland, from 21st to 26th April.
Currently she is ranked world No.6 and is just 19 points behind Nouran Gohar from Egypt, who is now at No.5 with 994 points. The gap of the points is an opportunity for Sivasangari to climb the rankings if she gives a strong performance in Zurich.

Right after Australian Open recently, Sivasangari has been in a impressive form, strengthening her position among the world’s elite. National coach Ajaz Azmat said that reaching the final tournament could be enough to push her into top 5 for the first time in her career.
The 27-year-old has been improving under the guidance of former world champion Gregory Gaultier with whom she is currently training with in Prague. Her recent game reflected consistency and growing confidence when performing on a international stage. Seeded 3rd for this year’s Grasshopper Cup, Sivasangari is now going to face world No.3 Amina Orfi in the semi finals. This game determines her path to the finals.

Having reached the finals in 2025 before falling to Gohar, Sivasangari returns this year with the aim of going one step further, with added motivation of securing historic ranking breakthrough.
Leading Malaysia’s Charge
While many Malaysian players have been seen in the latest world rankings, such as Aira Azman and Ng Eain Yow, it is Sivasangari who remains at the forefront of the country’s campaign on the global stage. As Grasshopper Cup nears, everyone wishes and eyes on her performance with a place the world’s top 5 is within a reach.
