In a significant achievement, Mahaambigai AP Umashanger from SJKT Palanisamy Kumaran, Sungai Petani, Kedah participated in the Global English Language Olympiad South East Asia (GELOSEA) and the International Spelling Linguistics Olympiad (ISLO). The competitions took place from April 5 to April 8, 2026, at D’Marqee in Singapore.
The Global English Language Olympiad South East Asia is an international competition aimed at promoting the English language across Southeast Asia, while the International Spelling Linguistics Olympiad focuses on enhancing English proficiency for primary and secondary school students. Mahaambigai demonstrated exceptional skill at the national level by winning a silver medal, which qualified her for the international rounds held in Singapore.
At the international level, she continued to showcase her competitiveness. In the Global English Language Olympiad South East Asia (GELOSEA) competition, she won a silver medal, and in the International Spelling Linguisitics Olympiad (ISLO) competition, she secured a bronze medal. Mahaambigai’s achievements are a source of pride for both our community and our nation. Her success also serves as an inspiration for the younger generation to master the English language.
