Malaysia’s has named Aaron Chia and M.Thinaah as the captains for national women’s team and men’s team as the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals in Horsens, Denmark scheduled from 24th April to 3rd May.
The Badminton Association of Malaysian (BAM) has said the decision reflects both of their experience and leadership. With both players having a combined seven appearances in the tournament.
Their presence is expected to bring stability and guidance as Malaysia aims to make a impact on the international stage.
Strong Line-Up for Thomas Cup
Malaysia’s men’s squad has a mix of top singles and doubles player. Leading the singles are Lee Zii Jia, Leong Jun Hao, Justin Hoh, and Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin.
In doubles, world No.2 pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik will headline alongside Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun and the independent duo Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzudin Rumsani.
The men’s team has been drawn in Group B, where they will face competition from Japan, England, and Finland.
Uber Cup Team Balances Youth and Experience
For women’s team, Thinaah will be the captain for a team that combines experienced players and rising talents. The singles line-up includes K.Letshanaa, Wong Ling Ching, Siti Zulaika Azmi, and former national ace Goh Jin Wei.
In doubles, Thinaah is expected to partner with Chong Jie Yu, while other pairs are Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting and Low Zi Yu-Noraqilah Maisarah. Malaysia’s women team will compete in Group B, and go against Japan, Turkiye, and South Africa.
With both teams finalised and leadership selected, Malaysia heads into a tournament hoping to deliver strong performance, and advance into the knockout stages.
