S Sivasangari has given a strong performance to get her place in the quarter-finals of the Grasshopper Cup in Zurich.
The world No.6 needed 12 minutes to win against Egypt’s Farida Mohamed, ranked No.17 with 11-4, 11-5 victory. The win marks Sivasangari’s second win over Farida in four competition.
Right off success from Australian Open last month, Sivasangari showed a strong form and control using her experience to neutralise Farida’s attacking style. National coach Ajaz Azmat praised her composed display, as she executed her game plan effectively to secure straight game win.
Sivasangari will face another Egyptian, Nada Abbas, in quarter-finals. She holds a strong 4-1 head to head record against Nada and also defeated her at the same tournament last year.
Nada advanced after winning against Mariam Metwally. Looking ahead, Ajaz also said that Sivasangari will need to maintain a fast and attacking approach to progress further.
With strong momentum and confidence on her side, Sivasangari continues her push for another step in Zurich.
