Gunaseelan Rajoo, rally driver in Malaysia is coming back to the international racing stage after 15-years. He will be competing in the Mile Auto Rally Championship 2026 in Kunming, China, from 20th to 26th April.
This will be his first competition appearance since 2011. He is known for his consistency during his earlier years in the Asia Pacific rally circuit, he once earned a nickname called “Mr Consistent” for his steady competitions.
Describing his return as meaningful, Gunaseelan said its been a long awaited moment. Kunming, is a place that holds memories for him, and adds more significance to his comeback.
For his championship, he will be partnered with former World Rally Champion Chong, known as “Malay Chong”, who will be his co-driver. This event is expected to have more than 100 competitors including 20 international drivers.
More then the competition itself, Gunaseelan’s participation is also a large purpose. This connects with efforts to promote Malaysia internationally, in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026. Gunaseelan hopes this will showcase Malaysia’s strength. While building meaningful connections with global participation.
Despite the long break, Gunaseelan is still focused and optimising, as he gets prepared for a huge stage. He sees this as a beginning of a new journey.
Looking ahead, he said he has the intention to compete in more international events, and continue to represent Malaysia on international stage.
