On April 25, 2026, Papparaidu Veeraman, a member of the Human Resources and Poverty Eradication Committee of DUN Banting in Selangor, organised a charitable initiative aimed at uplifting the local Indian community. He organized the distribution of food baskets specifically for the residents of Banting, Selangor, in celebration of Chithirai Puthandu, which is the Tamil New Year observed by the Indian community on April 14, 2026.

The event took place at the Community Hall in Kampung Fatimah, Sungai Manggis, where community members gathered. The thoughtfully prepared food baskets contained essential items such as rice and other necessities, all aimed to support families in need during this festive season.
During the distribution, Papparaidu expressed that this initiative not only embodies the spirit of togetherness and unity among the community but also serves as an invaluable opportunity for him to engage directly with the residents. He emphasized the importance of understanding the diverse needs and challenges faced by the community, allowing him to more effectively advocate for their welfare.

Papparaidu hopes that the contributions will alleviate some of the financial burdens on the recipients while simultaneously enhancing their celebration of the Tamil New Year. He also took the opportunity to extend his heartfelt gratitude to the event organizers and the dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this meaningful event, acknowledging their commitment and effort in making a positive impact within the community.
